The French Community in Calgary
I love so many things about living in Calgary, having the mountains at your doorstep while surrounded by a bustling metropolis to name a few, but I have to say that the diversity of this place continues to amaze me.
Whether it’s festival or market like the yearly multicultural Lilac Festival or the multitude of cuisines to sample around the city – there is always something new to try or to help get a little taste of home. Being born in France, lived in South Africa for a time before immigrating to Canada, having a line to my French roots is important and local connections have been so important to my family and I.
One of the organizations in Calgary that provides a wide variety of resources and information to French Calgarians is Francophonie. Promoting the French community in Calgary, they bring together the connections you need to help support your start in Calgary. From events and employment to French schools and services, their website is a wealth of information and a great first stop to discover more about the culture in Calgary.
I raised my family here and am so proud to be part of this vibrant city. I continue to discover new, exciting things to explore and would be happy to share some tips with you, whether it’s real estate related or where to cure a craving! Speaking of, I’m so lucky to have the best little French bistro right around the corner- shout out to Patisserie du Soleil, so delicious and my first tip to you! Visit me on Facebook and Google!
